Overview of First Aid & CPR techniques with scenarios taken from the marine/fishing industry for individuals who need a basic training level in First Aid & CPR for the marine/fishing industry. The course covers skills needed to recognize and respond to cardiovascular emergencies for Adults, Children and Babies, CPR Level C, and other topics including choking, airway and breathing emergencies, and prevention of disease transmission. Also covers topics like rescue and transport of people, rescue in enclosed spaces, infectious diseases and personal health and hygiene.
Who should attend:
Any employee or those pursuing employment in the marine/fishing industry can attend this course. No pre-requisites or pre-course assignment is required.
Assessment of needs of casualties and threats to own safety
Appreciation of body structure and functions
Understanding of immediate measures to be taken in cases of emergency, including the ability to:
Positioning of person
The unconscious person
Control of bleeding
Management of shock
Burns and scalds and injuries caused by electricity
Rescue and transport of people
Topics including improvised bandages, rescue in enclosed spaces, infectious diseases and personal health and hygiene
40-44 hour course
3-year certification in Marine Advanced First Aid and First Responder, CPR Level HCP
Includes AED certification (where local legislation permits)
Take-home materials: Red CrossEmergency Care Manual, certification card
Comprehensive First Aid & CPR techniques with scenarios taken from the marine/fishing industry, for individuals who need a higher level of training to work and respond to emergencies in an advanced marine setting.

Any employee or those pursuing employment in the marine industry can attend this course. No prerequisite is required; however, local legislation must be followed where applicable. No pre-course assignment is required.
